They met by chance in Washington, DC on the Metro in 1991, got married in 1992, started a fashion design company, and have been together in life, love, and business ever since. Their marriage and business lives are so intertwined that they are known collectively as "Stef-n-Ty."
The couple strongly believes that it is possible for Black couples to fall in love, stay in love, get married, stay married, and successfully built a life and a business together.
According to Stef-n-Ty, their mission includes three main points:

- To prove that through hard work and commitment to each other and to the business, everything is possible, no matter the obstacles.
Throughout this book, you will experience the love they have for each other that oozes through their words. You will realize how hard it is to go into business and to stay in business, but this couple has succeeded in both love and business for almost thirty years.
