Publisher's Synopsis
This book describes the work of the Looking After Children research team since the publication of the initial Looking After Children materials in 1991. During this period the team piloted all the materials to see whether they fulfilled the functions for which they were designed. Of particular importance were the findings from studies of children looked after by local authorities and parents and children living in the community. A major concern of the book has been to show that developmental work needs to be undertaken with all the scientific rigour expected of more traditional research.
