Publisher's Synopsis

Weaving a tapestry of adventure, Doc Sibley takes Dub from Negreet, Louisiana through Texas with his beloved wolf dog Ring, his filly Honey Gal and Valentine, his sweet mule. His family has fallen on hard times and our protagonist, Dub is determined to help them. He packs up what he needs and loads it on the always accommodating Valentine. Dub sets out on a quest to find the gold mine of a long-dead Anasazi Indian. On the way, he takes work on various ranches and has the money sent home. His ranch hand work brings a number of new friendships as well as many close calls in dangerous situations. The communication Dub has with Ring is heartwarming and throughout the book, Ring advises Dub and protects him.

In addition to new friends from his ranch work, Dub has a long-standing friendship with the Governor of Texas. He saved the Governor's daughter several years ago and the appreciation gives Dub easy access to him. He's careful not to abuse this relationship but several encounters with edge-of-your-seat danger find Dub calling on the Governor for life-saving help.
