Publisher's Synopsis

Little Lord Fauntleroy by Frances Hodgson Burnett

A boy named Cedric Errol lived a modest life with his mother in New York. He spent his days playing with other children. He was always saddened when he remembered his father's death as a child.

Cedric has best friends and they are Hobbs and Dick. Hobbs owns the store near his apartment and Dick made his living shining shoes.

His life changes suddenly when his grandfather's messenger appears. He later learned that his grandfather is an English aristocrat Earl Dorincourt and that after the death of his uncles he is the only remaining hare of property in England and a royal title.

Cedric had to travel to England and leave all his friends for a new life.

He went to England with his mother and when they got there he met the grumpy old man who was his grandfather. He wanted to make Cedric a true Englishman, so he forbade his mother to live with him. That made Cedric very sad because he loved his mother.

During the plot, many events happen where Cedric, with his kindness, changes the selfish lord and exerts a positive influence on other people. In the end, Cedric's mother also lived in the castle with him.
