Caitlin's senior year ends with pomp and circumstance as most senior years do, but in a town like Oaks anything can happen when you least expect it and young Caitlin Korbs finds this out the hard way. In a heartrending quest to disentangle the ball of lies given to her from birth, Caitlin must now face the truth of who she really is, a truth she must not only confront but also defend against immortals armed with powers beyond her own. Her biggest obstacle is her own unwillingness to accept her rightful place among the Gifted, a position fraught with responsibility far greater than young Caitlin can handle. When the veil of secrecy is finally lifted, she is forced to fight not only the mighty demons on the battlefield, but also her own inner demons that threaten to drown her. The lines of good and evil become blurred and Caitlin needs to decide on which side she stands on.
