Publisher's Synopsis
The contemporary Peruvian sculptress, Lika Mutal, brings to her work the sensibilities of three cultures: the spirituality of the Inca civilization, the artistic tradition of her native Netherlands, and the vitality of New York City, where she has lived part-time. This study of her sculptures aims to show how she preserves the natural beauty of stone as she layers it with inventive forms and textures, sensuously carved and intricately related.
