AN autobiography is not the most popular style of writing, and it has even been said that some men write the history of their own lives because nobody else will do it. This may be true in part, when men are ambitious of notoriety without any merit; but when a man writes for his own amuse ment and that of his immediate friends, it is a whole some recreation from severer studies, and should not offend the delicate sensibility of any one. Men may say what they like; there is no doubt of the fact that most persons prefer reading a candid man's account of himself rather than that furnished by any one else.
