In this issue, 'Turning the tables', Jeff continues to look at the apostle Paul's words to the fledgling church in Thessalonica. The book of 2 Thessalonians was written as a postscript to the first, re-emphasising some of Paul's earlier teaching and dealing in particular with how to persevere in times of persecution, correcting mischievous false teaching doing the rounds of the Church about the second coming of Christ, and encouraging new Christians to continue working for their living, rather than indulging in idleness and gossip. Paul writes to remind them that, in the midst of suffering and gross injustice, they should remember that a day is coming when the tables will be turned. Justice will reign; glory will replace pain.
