Publisher's Synopsis

Letters to My Sister is a collection of short stories written on special occasions for my sister. The stories take place during the postwar years of the 1940's and 50's. It is a recollection of my family's life and memories of growing up in northeastern Pennsylvania during that time. I hope, dear reader, these stories will evoke some of your own nostalgic memories of life, love, family and happiness. My stories are filled with a soft and gentle humor. They are at times, funny, wistful, reflective, misty and always sentimental. Some of the names and places are real, and others are not. The 'city' I write of is Allentown, Pennsylvania although I am sure it will compare with many other cities around the country at the time.Volume One begins in 1945, at the close of World War II when men, like my father, were returning home to their families in legions, anxious to resume their 'normal' lives that were horrifically interrupted on a Sunday in December, 1941.
