Lets Study Looking for Cats was written to help readers fully enjoy reading Looking for Cats by using it as a supplement and to aid teachers in their reading classes. The book provides worksheets for use in close study lessons that help readers have fun while they use their creativity. The book can also develop new thinking skills as readers learn about delightful Himalayan, Siamese, Calico, American Short hair, Persian, Savannah and Serval caats. Readers will travel through the Oglala Sioux Reservation with Gramma and the cats; through the South Dakota Badlands; and back in time to consider the sad history of Wounded Knee. They will explore problems facing Native American tribes today and also learn a little bit more about what the grandparents of today face. The common thread that runs throughout the book is having fun with words and using the creativity of the reader to paint his/her own word pictures. This book also offers creative suggestions to teachers and/or readers on ways to use videos and other on-line resources to go beyond the reading passages, to learn about the world around us and to use such technology in meaningful ways to enrich the reader, his/her families and classmates.
