Publisher's Synopsis
River Rouge Michigan. The River Rouge Panthers Basketball and Wrestling teams put the city on the map in the 60's! Not just sports, but academics as well. The city was very much divided and segregated, but it seemed like a very small problem for the young people. They laughed and played together, both Black and White.
There were educated and prominent families on both sides of the track. In the neighborhood the kids were always doing things together, but the parents kept to themselves except to speak or wave; to be neighborly. Parents would watch out for each others children and would reprimand them without hesitation! There were family gatherings, parties and bar-b-ques, and liquor would be available but not obvious, until the affects kicked in. The results of too much alcohol or drugs would show it's face in the most ugly, distorted and harmful way!
It was acceptable behavior because this was a working class community, and a little fun couldn't be that bad. A YOUNG GIRL'S EXPERIENCE BEGS TO DIFFER!
