When it was time for God to create man, He knew through His fore-knowledge that the first and the most important thing that man will need to inhabit planet earth is light; hence He commanded light into existence in Genesis 1:3. God does not need light to carry out all the activities that followed the creation of light. This is because He is the embodiment of light and He dwells in light. He created light solely for man whom He created to crown all His creation. For man to be comfortable in a new environment, He took time to lay down some fundamental principles in Genesis chapter one; the most important chapter in the Bible. The Bible says that God is light and He expects His children whom He referred to as the light of the world to live a light empowered life. And what you are must of necessity determine what you do. God as light commanded light into existence. He is a deliverer; He delivered the children of Israel from the bondage of Egypt. Jesus as light and a savior saves people from their sins. Paul as light and an apostle preached the Gospel. God commanded all His children to shine for Him but many believers find it very difficult to obey this commandment; why?
