Leni Robredo is truly a modern-day political phenomenon. I have long been in the game of deciphering politics in our country, and I have tried to analyze what makes this political figure tick. It's a combination of several factors. One is, she appears genuine---like what you see and hear is what she is; nothing wily about her. She is also reasonably bright---a lawyer and economist. The fact that she is good-looking in a very natural way, nothing contrived or frightfully coiffed like Imelda, and the fact that Leni is blessed with a friendly smile that comes naturally, is a big factor. As I said in FB before, I'd love to see her entering the UN General Assembly in our beautiful Filipino terno and her seemingly shy but catchy smile---to the gigantic applause of an assembly that simply appreciates good looks done in a non-contrived way (like Imelda before). Her late husband, Jesse Robredo, was thought of as definite presidential; timber, but God works in unfathomable ways at times. God calls Jesse home and instead, He made the Filipino people---and the world---discover Jesse's hitherto quiet widow---and as in the case of First Widow Cory Aquino, the rest will be history with Leni Robredo. She is on her way to become President of the Republic of the Philippines.
