Publisher's Synopsis

Leisl, a young Mennonite living in southern Russia in the early 1900's, dreams of someday marrying Alexei, the local Boyar's son and moving to America. When Alexei, now a Russian Army officer, eventually recognizes and declares his love for Leisl, the The First World War and bloody, brutal Bolshovic Revolution as well as her Mennonite belief in Pacifism all conspire against them. Their faith and love prevail and they are married only to have Alexei again embroiled in conspiracies and vendettas as the several opposing armies that are Russia at the time, vie for supremacy. Alexei goes missing and until their son is born Leisl searches for him amid the chaos. Later, at the behest of her family and for the safety of her son, she does move to Canada. Will she ever see Alexei again? Can she make a life for herself and her son in this new land? Will her faith and love endure?
