Eine neue Au?age meiner Einleitung herzustellen, welche die reiche seit der vorigen auf diesem Gebiete entfaltete Arbeit ge nügend berücksichtigte, wäre mir kaum möglich gewesen, wenn nicht meine Freunde, D. Hamack und Prof. Gregory, sowie mein Sohn Johannes, Professor in Marburg, mich in der Sammlung und Sichtung des dazu erforderlichen Materials unterstützt hätten. Ihnen sage ich daher vor Allem auch hier meinen wärmsten Dank. Wieviel in das Buch neu hineingearbeitet, sieht man ihm, da es an Bogenzahl um ein kleines geringer geworden, nicht an. Ich habe es dafür, soweit ich konnte, zu kürzen und übersichtlicher zu gestalten versucht.
