The Lord Chancellor's Management Statement for the Legal Aid Board, published in January 1994, provides an essential basis for the planning of the Board's activities. This report describes their strategic planning process, and how the strategic plan developed by that process fits the Lord Chancellor's objectives. Since the Board took statutory responsibility for the administration of legal aid in 1988, many changes have taken place, and an improved performance in the time taken to process applications has been achieved.
