Publisher's Synopsis

Left to Right is a spellbinding drama of Alex MacCafry, ex-baseball star and coach for twin teenage boys whose love of baseball set the stage for tragedy, love and commitment to fulfill a promise. Super baseball star, Gene Stites is apparently murdered during the last game of the season. Time is turned back to when Gene and Dean Stites' family move from San Diego, CA to the outback of Australia. The boy's frustration from the sudden change between being star players on their league to not being able to play baseball is changed when they meet Alex MacCafry. Alex became a recluse after critically injuring his arm. He broke his engagement to a beautiful woman and moved to Australia. His only connection to his past was the baseball field he had in his backyard. It was a shrine, not to be played on. Alex was eventually convinced by his best friend to allow the boys to use his field. He found new meaning in life when he started coaching the boys. Life was wonderful, until Dean is killed from a stray bullet shot by a poacher. As he is dying in his brother's arms, he asks Gene to promise him that he will be remembered. Gene is consumed by guilt over his brother's death and at a loss as how to fulfill his promise to Dean. Alex recognizes that Gene is following the same destructive path he had taken when he injured his arm. Alex makes a commitment to himself to help Gene overcome his self-destruction and to fulfill his promise to his brother.
