This Lecture, though properly belonging to the codes, is suppressed, from a conviction that the oopionsneae, and increasing importance of some of the topics which it embraces, demhnd a more extended discussion. Should the author at a future period, be able to execute the plan which he has formed, the consideration of these topics, will occupy several additional Discourses, which will be published in a manner to correspond with the present volume. In the mean time, it has been deemed advisable to throw into the form of an Appendix, several briefextracts from the Lecture referred to, touch ihg points of more than ordinary interest.
