Donald Leckie an ex DC living in Edinburgh is having a crisis. His Gallery is going down the tubes, he is drinking and he fears his daughter is out of control. Now he is being harassed by a gang boss who believes he has stolen his cocaine. Leckie must step up to the plate or lose all self-respect. Only when his daughter is kidnapped does the real Donald Leckie emerge: a man energised by the love he has for his daughter and a fierce sense of injustice. He is a man of peace but against forces that only know the language of violence he must fight fire with fire. As a sub-plot the character of Malky emerges: a petty criminal born on the wrong side of the tracks who becomes enmeshed in Leckie's quest for justice. Thrown together through a series of violent incidents the two act out a thrilling endgame which determines the lives of all concerned.
