Publisher's Synopsis
Based on a conference held in Oslo in May 1991, this volume discusses undergraduate and postgraduate medical education as well as patient education. Throughout, the emphasis is on developing a learner-centered approach to medical education. The chapters may be read separately or taken together as a handbook of medical education. A summary is presented in the final chapter which combines educational psychology and humanistic theories of learning. The book presents to the reader examples of successful practice in medical education and the general principles that underpin them, offering a framework for reflecting on one's own experience.
