Racmgliemmo in questo volumetto tutte le poesie di Giuseppe Giusti fin qui conosciuto. Distribuimmo nella prima serie quelle che il Giusti intitolava Scherzi, più vera espres sione de?'anima sua nella seconda le Poesie varie. Politiche e d'affetto, liriche e meliche; nella terza, i Versi rifiutati, i quali credemmo non omissibili a chi della poesia del Giusti voglia dar compita notizia. Notammo di cia _scun componimento, il tempo, secondo cer tezza e probabilità. Molta: dove queste ci mancarono, no. Aggiungemmo le Prefazioni, che l'autore in varii tempi o mise o preparò da mettere innanzi a' suoi versi; e alcune lettere, poche ma utili, in fine; ciò non a rimpinzaro ilvolume, si ad illustrarlo.
