After the discovery of these writings, Anna befriends the stranger in the mirror; thus unraveling the truth about the eight young women in war-torn Italy whose lives were fortuitously intertwined in the 60's in San Francisco, resulting in a lifelong friendship.
This novel is in part inspired by actual events during World War II.
