Las bodas de Yolanda es una novela de humor en el que se recogen las costumbres y la vida de las clases mas humildes. Extracto: Estar de pie ahi, ante la tumba abierta todavia de un viejo camarada, es horrible, senores, les aseguro... simplemente horrible. Los pies se hunden en la tierra recien removida, uno se retuerce el bigote con expresion idiota y al mismo tiempo, querria aullar de pena. Todo, pues, habia concluido... nada habia que hacer ya... Su muerte nos arrebata un verdadero genio en el arte de inventar grogs, ponches y cherry gobblers, frios o calientes. Cuando uno se paseaba con el por el campo, les aseguro, senores, con solo ver su manera de sorber el aire, se podia estar seguro de que acababa de tener una inspiracion. Al sentir el aroma de una maleza cualquiera, habia adivinado en que clase de vino habria que ponerla en infusion para conseguir una bebida excelente, extra fina... Y que entretenido era! Nos veiamos todas las noches, desde hacia anos, fuera que el viniera a mi casa en Ilgenstein, o que yo me trasladase a caballo a Dobeln; y nunca me habia parecido largo el tiempo que con el pasaba..... Novelista y dramaturgo aleman nacido en Matziken (Prusia Oriental ahora en Polonia). Curso estudios en la Universidad de Konigsberg. Su primera novela, Senora preocupacion (1887), se convirtio en un modelo para la novela social de su epoca. Como uno de los primeros autores teatrales del naturalismo, tuvo mucho exito con sus obras El fin de Sodoma (1891) y Patria (1893). El drama Magda (1893) hizo celebre a la actriz francesa Sarah Bernhardt, la actriz britanica Mrs. Patrick Campbell y la actriz italiana Eleonora Duse. Destacan como sus obras mas famosas, la obra de teatro Que viva la vida (1902) y la novela El cantar de los cantares (1908). Hermann Sudermann fallecio en Berlin el 21 de noviembre de 1928"
