Samurai Sudoku Instructions At first glance Samurai Sudoku appears tricky, 5 classic Sudoku grids, 4 overlapping corners, 369 squares in total taunting your Sudoku skills. It is true Samurai Sudoku does take longer to solve, but the rules are the same as classic Sudoku. The only difference are the four overlaps to consider. If you have never tried Samurai Sudoku or are completely new to classic Sudoku here are the rules and strategies to get you on the path to a solution. Classic Sudoku Rules 1. Each classic 9x9 Sudoku grid consists of 9 rows, 9 columns, and 9 3x3 blocks. a. Every Row, Column, and Block must contain the numbers 1-9, but only once per number. b. Each Row, Column, and Block will sum to 45 c. Every 9x9 grid has only one solution 2. Never guess. There are logical moves to solve the puzzle. 3. In easier puzzles there may be multiple moves available. In harder puzzles be patient, there may only be one move available at a time. Samurai Sudoku Solving Suggestions 1. At first, don't try to solve each of the classic grids in entirety. Work one classic grid (1-4 in pic) as far as you can and move to the next one and so on. 2. Rotate around the four outside grids (1-4 in pic) before attempting the center grid (5). Starting in the middle grid (5 in pic) can lead to heavy use of your eraser later on. 3. You must consider both overlapping puzzle grids to solve the shared corner. Classic rules apply. 4. Work on the puzzle as a whole. Don't fixate on solving one classic grid. A solution may not be possible until later in the game when the center is more complete
