Publisher's Synopsis
The requirements of the National Curriculum, and the shift of funding away from local education authorities mean that primary schools are increasingly responsible for their own in-service provision. This set of three resource packs covering the core subjects of the National Curriculum aims to help teachers charged with the task of curriculum leader to plan coherent and effective professional development for their colleagues. They assume no specialist knowledge on the part of the curriculum leader and they are designed to be used flexibly according to the needs of individual schools. The three packs are divided into self-contained units, each containing photocopiable materials to cut preparation time to a minimum. Each unit includes: leader's guidelines - a summary of aims of the unit with suggestions for timing and guidance on running the session; briefing paper - notes on background to the issues covered for distribution to participants; stimulus activities for group use in an introductory session; classroom activities involving special work with children and observation of normal activity; and review session.
