Publisher's Synopsis
Rembrandt was a draughtsman and etcher, who produced numerous evocative landscapes and city views. Through his drawings the reader can accompany Rembrandt as he walks with friends and pupils around Amsterdam, viewing country footpaths and windmills, and the city's streets, canals and towers. Other artists at the time also sketched the same sites, and so comparisons can be drawn from Rembrandt's visual records with landscape drawings made by his precursors and contemporaries and in doing so readers are given a detailed insight into the essential quality of Rembrandt's drawings.
