Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2006 im Fachbereich Romanistik - Französisch - Landeskunde / Kultur, Note: 1,3, Technische Universität Berlin, Veranstaltung: HS: Gender-Reflexionen in außereuropäischen Ländern, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Assia Djebar schildert in L´amour, la fantasia, dem ersten Teil einer Tetralogie, die Geschichte und Gegenwart Algeriens, wobei sprachliche und kulturelle Aspekte überwiegen. Deshalb soll in der vorliegenden Arbeit die Sprache im Maghreb im Hinblick auf den kolonialen Hintergrund untersucht werden. Dabei wird die Beziehung zwischen Männern und Frauen und deren Entwicklung ein zentrales Thema einnehmen. In L`amour, la fantasia beschreibt Djebar zum einen die Zeit vom Fall Algiers bis hin zu den Unabhängigkeitskriegen. Sie bezieht sich auf Zeugenberichte und französische Kriegskorrespondenzen zwischen 1830 und 1860/1870, die sie vor allem im ersten und zweiten Abschnitt dokumentiert und teils ironisch hinterfragt. Demgegenüber stellt sie im dritten Teil des Romans mündliche aus dem Arabischen übersetzte Berichte von algerischen Frauen. Dabei geht es ihr um das nicht nur in diesem Roman zentrale Anliegen, den Frauen die Möglichkeit zu geben, sich zu äußern, was im folgenden Zitat deutlich wird: Réveiller la voix longtemps silencieuse des femmes algériennes. C´est autour de ce thème que se développe la production littéraire d`Assia Djebar depuis les années 1980[.] Susan Ireland gibt an, dass viele weibliche Autorinnen die Wichtigkeit der Frauen betonen, die es ablehnen zu schweigen und sich einschüchtern zu lassen. In die Kapitel fügen sich autobiographische Schilderungen Djebars. Demnach verbindet sie in diesem Roman Fakten und Fiktion mit Autobiographie und Geschichte, die sich in Individual- und Sozialgeschichte unterteilt. Im Folgenden wird zunächst zum besseren Verständnis die Situation von schreibenden algerischen Frauen dargestellt.
