Billy Harris, graphic designer, married and receiving dialysis treatment, suddenly finds himself thrust into the nineteenth century where he is mistaken by a ruthless gang of law-breaking and murderous smugglers as a member of their gang. He has to fight to get back to the 21st century to stay alive or die in the century he has inexorably landed up in. He has 3 days to do it. He has no one to help him until he runs into the gutsy and no-nonsense lady of the night, Sophie. This is their tale of horror and hope as they battle to save Billy's life. All the while the smuggling gang may ruin everything they are hoping for. This dark tale, narrated by death takes the reader on a journey into the past, where murky deals were made by dangerous free-traders up and down the British coastline and the risk of death was only a whisper away.
