Publisher's Synopsis

Embark on a compelling qualitative study delving into the leadership journeys of Korean American Christian women, a phenomenon both peculiar and noteworthy within the context of evangelical Korean American churches in the United States. While modern Korea witnesses a rise in female leadership in various sectors, the religious sector remains resistant to change. This study aims to understand and describe the experiences of Korean American Christian women leaders in local churches, offering a nuanced perspective on their journeys.

Conducted through in-depth interviews with 23 Korean American Christian women leaders, this basic qualitative study unveils the subjective meaning and viewpoints of their experiences. The findings, categorized into five thematic areas, provide insights into how these women become leaders, the challenges they face, their responses to challenges, their leadership strategies, and the meaning they derive from their roles. Despite encountering challenges and silent struggles, these passionate leaders remain committed to their calling, serving God and the church with resilience, faith, and hope.
