Southern District of New-York, to wit:
L. S. Be it Remembered, That on the twenty-first day of November, in the forty-eight year of the independence of the United States of America, C. S. Van Winkle, of the said district, has deposited in this office the title of a Book, the right whereof he claims as proprietor, in the words following, to wit:
"A History of New-York, from the beginning of the world to the end of the Dutch Dynasty. Containing, among many surprising and curious matters, the Unutterable Ponderings of Walter the Doubter, the Disastrous Projects of William the Testy, and the Chivalric Achievements of Peter the Headstrong, the three Dutch Governors of New-Amsterdam. Being the only Authentic History of the Tunes that ever hath been published. In two volumes. Sixth American edition. By Diedrich Knickerbocker.

In Conformity to the Act of the Congress of the United States, entitled, "An Act for the encouragement of Learning, by securing the copies of Maps, Charts, and Books, to the Authors and Proprietors of such copies during the times therein mentioned." And also to an Ac entitled, "An Act supplementary to an Act, entitled 'An Act for the Encouragement of Learning, by securing the copies of Maps, Charts, and Books, to the Authors and Proprietors of such copies, during the times therein mentioned, ' and extending the benefits thereof to the arts of designing, engraving, and etching, historical and other Prints."
