Publisher's Synopsis
This book consists of collection of Poems written with the sole intent of generating satire while popularizing Maths (Ganit) without hurting the sentiments of anyone.
This Volume is dedicated to appraising the beauty and usefulness of Mathematics with a fun filled writing that not only generates laughter but also throws some Math tricks which work like magic when applied on Numbers. The Purpose is to cultivate an interest in Maths amongst the younger generation that still feels alienated with the subject and scared of flexing their grey cell when the topic is Maths. This volume is also dedicated to Srinivas Ramanujam, one of the greatest mathematicians from India who revolutionized the Western world with his wizard like approach to solving complex Math Problems. This is perhaps the first ever poetry book on Mathematics to our knowledge. Poetry is an art. A poet is therefore an Artist.
When Art meets Math then the resulting outcome is hilarious with learning intrinsic to it.
For every soul full who loves Sense of Humour out there we have compiled a list of Poems written by my uncle Mr. Amarnath Murthy who is an Engineer by profession and a mathematician by talent and musician at heart. This is the Volume 2 featuring HASYA SE GANIT. He experimented to let his emotions flow in verses that expressed the beauty of Maths while trying to encapsulate the magic with numbers. Most people will find a connect to the beautifully written satire in a mathematical overtone that flows naturally entwining the relationship between numbers, revealing tricks that can magically solve complex Math problem.
The fun filled prose aims at teaching the nuances of Maths that none would have tried before in an interesting manner based on his own struggles, hurdles and learning experience .
I can guarantee that these simple but effective tricks contained in this Volume would raise the level of interest in our kids and youngsters towards Math while allaying the fears.
I hope this gem of a collection of wisdom nuggets would entice everyone while tickling their funny bones would also inculcate a love towards Math which deserves its rightful place in Society. This book is bi-lingual by design and hopes to serve well to both hindi speaking as well as English speaking audience in that the poems / couplets have been translated in short transcipts to ensure those having handicap in Hindi (Devnagari) can get the nuance of the satire in a meaningful manner without losing the essence of the same.
In today's fast paced world of instant noodles and pizzas, where Stand-up comedy has taken the centre-stage leaving the Poetic fraternity to perils of the much talked about Age of Disruption, this is an effort to re-enlighten the spirits of those who love to enjoy reading the linguistic expressions in poetic form in pure satire without use of excessive cuss words or demeaning content.
This would also serve as an introduction to the linguistic charm of poetic satire to the new age millennials who are so engrossed with the Tiktok and Stand-up acts that dwelves upon cheap theatrics to generate laughter bordering very close to obscenity. In addition, the book also aims at generating interest towards the most dreaded subject "Maths" in a fun manner as it weaves the magic of short tricks and concepts that would captivate the readers - both young and old. This book has something for everyone. Students, teachers, young generation and parents.
"If people do not believe that mathematics is simple,
it is only because they do not realise how complicated life is"
(John Von Neumann)
