Kapløbet - en illustreret novelle is a bi-lingual graphic novel (Dansk - English) based on Opera Modesto's international award winning youth opera movie, Kapløbet - En Samling Af Æsops Fabler (The Race - An Aesop's Fables Mashup), with charming illustrations from the shooting of the film. Starring 19 youth artists, 11-19 years old, and winner of 80 international film festival awards, The Race is a delightful mashup of five famous Aesop's Fables, set to music by composer Deborah Kavasch, with lyrics by Linda Bunney-Sarhad. The awards include Best Children & Family Film, Best Musical Film and many more. The five Aesop's Fables included in the film and the graphic novel:

Invent creative Reader's Theater variations, and then rent Kapløbet - The Race movie from Opera Modesto's website with Dansk - English subtitles. The music is delightful, the youth artists are engaging and when you return to the graphic novel, you will hum the tunes and recognize the characters in the illustrations as old friends. A great way to practice reading/hearing English or Danish as a second language, learn five famous Aesop's Fables, develop an interest in the performing arts (and opera!) - and have a lot of fun!
