Following its inception in 1833 the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council has played a significant role in the administration of southern Africa. This volume makes available the text of some 35 judgments of the Privy Council rendered prior to 1950 on questions of Roman-Dutch law. It also contains a digest of all other appeals emanating from the Union of South Africa and the pre-Union Superior Courts decided by the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.
