Publisher's Synopsis
By the end of the East Han Dynasty, riots were taking place throughout the divided China. Sun Ce and Zhou Yu were teenagers with similar ambitions for the country's future, and as a result they became sworn brothers, fighting for the south-eastern territory of China. In the fifth year of Jian'an (200 CE), Ce was assassinated by Xu Gong's protege while hunting in Dantu. As a result, his plan of a surprise attack on the capital of Han while Cao Cao and Yuan Shao were in a stalemate at Guandu was forced to put aside. After Sun's death, Yu, the general of Wu, kept assisting Sun Quan, Ce's brother. Yu expanded Wu's territory and won the famous Battle of Red Cliff in the thirteenth year of Jian'an. As of the next step, Yu was planning on conquering Yizhou, a territory west of Wu, two years after the battle. However, he got extremely sick on his way to Jiangling. Yet, he not only didn't die, but also traveled through time to the 21st century. In this modern time, Yu met another Sun Ce. Confused and somewhat terrified by this fact, he decided to find out what actually happened. As a result, he fell into a parallel world where Yu and Ce fought together again, completing the goal and the promise they had not had the chance to achieve. Even though the above description seems profound, I have to say, my original intention of writing this story is super simple. From my perspective, it is a continuation of history, an assumption of things that did not have the chance to happen in history. As a result of my love to the two, I provided them a relatively glorious and happy ending -- they didn't die young; rather, they fought bravely and ingeniously on the battlefield and expanded their territories just like they wished when they were younger. It was completely accidental that I started to like them, yet it is destined that I fell in love with them. Ce and Yu's story meets all my exciting and great visions of the future. They are passionate, brave, wise, indomitable, persistent, and able and willing to bear great responsibilities. Born in a time of warfare, their lives were brief, yet they are admired by many people today. Yet, from a fan's perspective, I wish they could live longer and more remarkable lives and get closer to their dreams. So, there it is, a resuming story of their lives. This story is nowhere near perfect and probably insignificant in some people's eyes, but it is extremely influential for me. While I was writing, I unintentionally put myself into Sun Ce's shoes, imagining that I am also the hot-blooded and fearless teenager who is willing to face and overcome any challenge. And I do want to become someone like him. I consider my life peaceful and I had always liked it. However, as I learn more and more about Ce and Yu, I desire to become a person like them, fearlessly embrace any challenge I face in my life. No matter what the outcome is, I could always learn from it. No matter how impossible it seems, there is always a chance of success. And this chance, only belongs to people who are willing to fight and struggle.
