It begins at Catholic University's theatre program and its powerhouse staff, which included Father Hartke, Walter Kerr, and the renowned director Alan Schneider. The author knew them all.
She experienced Greenwich Village in the era of the Beat Generation, the Village Voice, jazz clubs, and sandals. As a member of the Circle-in-the-Square theatre, she was behind-the-scenes with Jos� Quintero, Ted Mann, the actor Jason Wingreen, and many others.
She knew Gregory Corso (who stayed at her Village apartment when he was temporarily broke), listened to Dylan Thomas at the White Horse Tavern, and posed for Andy Warhol (whom she double-dated at Carnegie Tech).
