Publisher's Synopsis
Josep Lluìs Mateo: On Building is a book that looks towards the future. It encourages readers to imagine another reality, another world where great architectural feats are made possible. In the words of the architect: "Building is a long journey through the present continuous. The past exists as an echo, as a phantasmal form that is no longer discussed, and sometimes even its origin is forgotten. Building means taking root in the mud, squelching through it on a journey without distant horizons." The featured buildings have been captured on camera by Adrià Goula. They are compositions of planes and surfaces that form volumes, yet also a dialectics of the light and shade that define the spaces around them. Set among these images are descriptive texts and, at the end, the principles of order as determined by the building plans.
