The book is about a very endearing first grader who is relentless about helping her classmates strike it rich through compensations from her very own tooth fairy. Jordyn discovers that her tooth fairy pays more than her friend Chloe's does. She hatches a bird-brained scheme to put Chloe's tooth under her pillow to get more money for her. After paying Chloe $5.00 for a tooth that Chloe's tooth fairy would have given her only a dollar for, the news gets out, soon everyone is bringing their teeth to Jordyn in hopes to strike it rich. Calamity ensues when she finds out that the tooth fairy hasn't delivered, and the only one who's making money is her very own friends, at the expense of her piggy bank. After nearly emptying her piggy bank to reimburse her friends, she realizes that it's not working out as she had planned and that the tooth fairy isn't ever going to show up. She decided to talk with her Mimi and discovers that the reason the tooth fairy hasn't shown up is that the tooth fairy will only put money under your pillow if it's your tooth. She fought to get herself out of the pickle she was in by notifying all of her friends that the tooth fairy would no longer honor teeth under the wrong pillow. As one lesson is learned, Jordyn immediately starts drumming up another idea to help her friend Betty Kate strike it rich after discovering she gets more money for her report card than Betty Kate.
