Julie Logan is a recognized authority in early music education for children from birth to primary school years. As a published researcher, tertiary lecturer, and children's educator, she has made significant contributions to the field, particularly in translating complex research into practical, accessible strategies for educators and parents alike.
Julie holds a Research Master of Early Childhood Education, the Australian Certificate of Kodály Music Education, and a Bachelor of Primary Music and Special Education. Her training includes work with renowned experts such as Clive and Carol Robbins in Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy, Levinowitz and Guilmartin (Princeton, USA) and John Feierabend (Sydney, Australia). This diverse background informs her innovative approach to designing music programs for early childhood, special education and primary settings, as well as for the Newcastle Conservatorium of Music.
In addition to her academic roles, Julie is a sought-after presenter, frequently appearing on ABC Radio and as a keynote speaker at national conferences. Her ability to make music education accessible and enjoyable has earned her a reputation as a leader in the field.
Julie has also contributed to the development of accredited programs for the University of Newcastle, the Conservatorium of Music, Kodály Australia, and TAFE NSW. As a consultant, she continues to support generalist and music educators in their professional growth, with a particular focus on empowering those who may not see themselves as musically inclined.
In 2002, Julie founded "Julie Logan Music," a private school that has since nurtured the musical development of thousands of families in Newcastle, Australia. After successfully running the school for nearly two decades, she passed on the leadership in 2021, leaving a lasting legacy in the community.
Julie remains actively involved in the music education community, advising the Kodály National Council Education Committee, serving as Past President and Course Coordinator, and continuing her work on the NSW Kodály Board. She is an Honorary Life Member of Kodály Australia and a recipient of the Outstanding Professional Service Award NSW.
Beyond her professional achievements, Julie loves knitting, preferably whilst travelling and hearing everyone's life story!
