The Epistle of St. Paul to the Hebrews has received more than its share of higher criticism. It has been said that it is not an epistle; it was not written by the Apostle Paul; and it was not written to the Hebrews. We cannot, of certainty, remove all the questions surrounding the authorship of Hebrews. But we can be assured its message rings loud and true. There is no other New Testament book that offers such a clear picture of the Old Covenant with its accompanying New Covenant counterpart. Therefore, we embrace this wonderful Epistle, gleaning as much from each word picture as possible. And when we have finished our task, we will assuredly conclude, Jesus is above all others.
