Jean Fergusson, born on 30th December 1944, in Wakefield, West Riding of Yorkshire, England, UK, was a TV and theatre actress, who was familiar in households across the UK for her role as the opinionated and attractive Marina in the British situation comedy Last of the Summer Wine from 1985 until it ended during 2010, along with several guest roles in the soap Coronation Street. Fergusson portrayed the comedian Hylda Baker, at the Vaudeville Theatre, in the show She Knows You Know!, for which she was nominated in 1998 for a Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Best Entertainment of the 1997 season, having also been part of the cast of the touring play Seven Deadly Sins Four Deadly Sinners. Jean took on the role of Dorothy Hoyle in Coronation Street during 2010, having previously played Dr Lowther's sister-in-law Helen Ashcroft in 1987 then Gary Mallet's mother during 1999. Fergusson reappeared in 2011, having been part of a major kidnapping storyline involving her husband Alan, John Stape and Chesney Battersby-Brown.
