This booklet is not designed as a history of the life of Jason Lee. It is simply a paper prepared for the Preachers' Meeting of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Portland Ore and is given td the public in this form in accordance with the unanimous and urgent request of that body. It was afterwards deliv ered in a number of the leading congregations in that citv and vicinity, who joined in that request. It is designed to identify the place and work of jason lee in the civil and religious history of the Pacific Coast. If it seems the language of eulogy, it is because no language but that is suitable to its theme' and the writer makes no apology for his heartfelt admiration of the Life and Work of this Pioneer of Pioneers.
