He stood close. I used my right hand, which would give me the most leverage, taking hold of his left pants leg. I pulled fast and hard back toward the right and up under me, crossing his legs up. I kicked straight back as hard with my left leg into his right leg, taking all his balance away from him. With the floor being so slippery, he lost his balance, hitting the floor hard. By this time, I had my senses back from the two cheap shots he had given me from behind and came up fast. The first man not paying much attention. He must have thought his buddy had me under control; he had moved to the cracked mirror to look at his swollen nose. By the time he realized I was standing, he had no reaction time. I struck him on his red nose. I glanced over my left shoulder to check on the second man, sitting on the floor, rubbing the back of his head. These guys were not muggers or even fighters; someone put them up to this act. I turned my attention back to the red nose man who had returned to look back into the mirror.FROM CHAPTER 12 - NO WITNESSESThen, without another moment passing, Vladimir pointed his pistol at the back of the girl's head, pulling the trigger. One journey was over, and another began for the young girl.Vladimir looked at the sunrise once more. It would always have a different meaning for him, and he turned to face the soldiers. They did not move. He walked to the four soldiers, and they moved aside, giving him a clear exit toward the door. When he reached the center of the soldiers, he lowered his head, looking at the pistol still in his hand. The room was quiet; the noise from the town dying, seemed distant. The gun made a heavy sound when Vladimir dropped it to the ground. Vladimir, with his head, still hung low, spoke. "Do with her as you wish. There are no witnesses."From Chapter 16 - The QueenVladimir My LoveI do not understand what is happening to us, but whatever it is, you seem in control of our paths in life.
