Mit dem vorliegenden Amazuge meines anatomischen Handbuchs ent spreche ich einem von vielen Seiten mir geausserten Wunsche, den Atlas, in welchem ich fiir die seoirende Jugend die Abbildungen jenes Werkes zusammengestellt hatte, durch einen kurzen d104 zu erlautern. Bei der Abfassung desselben dachte ich zunachst an Leser, die den Gegenstand der Beschreibung und Abbildung vor sich oder in frischer Erinnerung haben und nur nach Anbaltspunkten verlangen, um das Besohriebene am Praparat aufzusuchen und in der Phantasie zu repro ducirem Ich beschrankte mich auf die nackte Anatomie in der Meinung, dass es Sache des academischen Vortrags sei, das Geruste derselben, je nach dem Geschmacks des Lehrers, mit meehanieohem, physiologischem, embryologimhem, phylogenetischem, chirurgiscbem und pathologischem Stoffe zu bekleiden und zu schmucken. Die Verbindung der Resultate der mikroskopischen und der grobern Anatomie, eine Verbindung, auf welcher die heutige Stellung der Anatomie im Unterrichts - System und der Anatomen im Unterrichtskorperl beruht, durfte nicht aufgegeben werden; doch hielt ich eine verbaltnissmassige Unterordnung der mikro sk0pischen Thatsacben fur erlaubt, aus dem doppelten Grunde, weil erstens ein Theil derselben noch zu sehr bestritten ist, um in einen kurzen, dogmauschen Ausdruck gefasst werden zu konnen und 2 w e i t e n s die Compendien der Gewebelehre es sich zur Zeit nicht nehmen lassen.
