Publisher's Synopsis
Death and tragedy comes to us all at some point in our lives. James and Kathryn it seems, would have more than their fair share, but it would not diminish their great love for each other. Their family was growing in many ways and life at the Parker ranch was filled with excitement and with people that came from far away. The new friends they would make found the Parker family to be one that loved and shared their home to anyone that would want refuge or just a place to stay.
Promises were made for their friend Mary Turnbough and it would turn out to be a promise that would mean much more to Mary and their friend Aunt Mattie. It would be an unbelievable reunion and new life for them both.
James' sister Katie, well, she thought she was being betrayed and yet because of her jealousy, she would never search for real answers to her thoughts of her family leaving her out of their lives. Her husband Samuel would endure through her rants and unforgiving ways, yet his heart was breaking as he tried to find inside Katie, the woman he married.
Major Parker and Peanut, were best buddies, as James called them, yet their time could be drawing to a close. It would be a time of testing for their love and strength. Peggy and Grace were slowing down in their daily chores, so the cottage became their place of contentment.
James and Kathryn would find every opportunity to dance and love, whether it be in the barn, a meadow, or on a rest during a ride to their northern pasture. It was their way and the best way to show each other their love and it would be a testament to all who knew them.
James would be facing the greatest obstacle in his life, but with Kathryn by his side to encourage him he was sure to find out the he could do most anything, at least for a time. Kathryn would cherish every moment with the love of her life.
Although they promised each other they would live to be one hundred and a day, and though they worked very hard to be there for each other until they reached their goal, it truly only mattered that they love as much as they could until the moment of a possible last dance. The embrace, the dance, the kiss, and their time to love made each minute of every day a reason to live for each other. It was their reason for living, it was who they were, and it was for the love of James.
