Publisher's Synopsis

Thirteen year old Carly Price lives with her dad Carl, whilst his ex-wife, and her mother, Marie lives with their younger daughter Gemma. The relationship between Carly and her parents is dysfunctional at best, and also somewhat disturbing. The sinister undertones are clear from the start of the novel, when Carl wakes up in his daughter’s bed. Marie is a successful professional full of guilt for leaving her elder daughter, whilst her ex-husband is a plodder frustrated at his comparative lack of success at work. Both embark upon relationships with colleagues and the effect these have on their lives and those of their daughters eventually leads to tragic consequences. Carl’s girlfriend Janice has a 15 year old son Nathan, and his exploits with his mates and his girlfriends culminates in a sordid relationship between him and Carly. She is keen to keep Nathan happy, but a sexual tryst that takes place on her birthday results in the examination of the dark and incestuous secrets that have surrounded the Price family for too long.
