This is volume five of the proceedings of the World Economic Congress held in Athens in August 1989 under the auspices of the International Economic Association. It considers the status of the Greek economy and desirable economic policy for the coming decade, in the light of EC directives and 1992.;Part one deals with the role of the state, the public sector and fiscal problems. Part two explores montary policy and the impact of the Greek banking system on development. This is followed in part three by an examination of Greece's performance within the EC, external economic relationships and the balance of payments situation. Lastly, part four covers structural issues and their impact on the Greek economy.
