Publisher's Synopsis
Islam is often misunderstood in the West. Muslims are certainly different: they have different eating habits, they dress differently, their family structure is not the same and they worship in mosques, not churches.
This is an attempt to show where Islam is coming from. History shows that the Arab conquest of the Middle East was very sudden, unexpected and thorough. The Golden Age of Islam, too, was spectacular. These short stories address that.
I hope they are easy to read and I have used Gemini to do it. I want Muslims to read them with satisfaction.
I have deliberately omitted the Revelation of 610 and also the life of the Prophet of Allah. I am a practising Catholic myself and do not want to wade in where angels fear to tread!
As a retired man, I have had time to study the Qur'an in Arabic and to do tajweed - the study of how to proclaim the Recitation. And yes I find the ancient text very helpful and beautiful too.
These stories are in accord with the most up-to-date Western scholarship.
I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I did planning them.
