Publisher's Synopsis

Set in the fictional urban metropolis of Champlain, British Columbia, Irreverence plays out the very real drama associated with legalizing marijuana. The farce of using public resources to prosecute marijuana crimes has devalued public opinion of government, and the main character Angus O'Neil, is particularly fed up.

Homeless and badly depressed, he seizes upon a desperate opportunity to fix his messed up life. Angus steals an entire crop of young marijuana plants from a dangerous drug dealer. It is a crazy gamble, since he has no previous experience in the criminal world.

Feeling better about the new scheme, Angus opens his mind to romance and pursues a lusty involvement with the manager of his apartment. Darlene is a free thinker, but it is her impressive physical strength and street smarts that will matter in the days to come as she partners up with Angus. Both of them are destined to learn the permanent consequences of straying into the criminal side of life.

Readers of Irreverence will appreciate the raw truth exposed in the setting of this story. The fictional city of Champlain shows the growing void between middle class values and the law. Governments, particularly in Canada, are comprised primarily of parasitic opportunists, who have no concern whatsoever for the middle class. Laws that protect the middle class are not enforced, while other laws, that are morally wrong, are applied for political advantage. Average people know this already, and have given up trying to reform the system. Anyone who has ever felt even the slightest touch of this type of anger, will finally have something to celebrate in reading Irreverence.
