Publisher's Synopsis
Three-part documentary about war-torn Iraq, giving three intimate portraits of life through the eyes of Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds. In the first part, a fatherless 11-year-old is apprenticed to the domineering owner of a Baghdad garage. In the second part, Sadr followers in two Shiite cities rally for regional elections while enforcing Islamic law at gunpoint. In the final segment, a family of Kurdish farmers welcomes the US presence, which has allowed them a measure of freedom previously denied. The film garnered several awards in the year of its release including Best Documentary Director at the Sundance Film Festival and the Grand Jury Award at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival.
