Publisher's Synopsis
This is a basic text covering finite element theory development, problem formulation and computer with a BASIC and FORTRAN diskette. Shape function and isoparametric concepts are introduced from the beginning and consistently carried through to two-and three-dimensional problems. Both e nergy and Galerkin approaches are used in the development of stiffness and load matrices and governing equations. Attention is given throughout to the modelling of engineering problems, specification of boundary conditions and handling of temperature effects.
